Dark circles
The eyes are a very important area for conveying positive emotions. In most cases, the best solution to brighten up the eyes is to inject hyaluronic acid around them. This is a very precise surgical operation. It is similar to the lipofilling technique (fat transfer), but without the need to resort to the operating theatre.
What are the different types of dark circles?
There are several types of dark circles under the eyes, each with their own distinct characteristics:
- Blue or purple dark circles are often caused by poor blood circulation in the delicate area around the eyes.
- Brown or pigmented circles are generally linked to an overproduction of melanin.
- Hollow circles are characterised by a sagging of the skin under the eyes, creating a more pronounced shadow. Diagnosing the type of dark circles is essential for choosing the best treatment approach. It is these hollow circles that Dr Olivier CLAUDE will treat with hyaluronic acid injections.
Procedure
After preparing the skin and applying a specific, highly effective anaesthetic cream, Dr Olivier CLAUDE locates the areas to be treated. The injection is usually carried out with a fine cannula, deep down, as close as possible to the bony relief. This placement plane is very insensitive, if at all, and bruising is exceptionally rare. Dr Olivier CLAUDE avoids over-correcting hollow dark circles with too much gel to eliminate the possibility of having visible nodules and hindering lymphatic drainage.
How long does a dark circles filling session last?
A session to fill in dark circles lasts about 30 minutes. It is possible to combine it with other injections during the same session. In most cases, the lateral support of the eye area (temple, cheekbone, valley of tears, etc.) is restored on the same day or a few weeks before.
What are the post-treatment recommendations?
In most cases, there is no need for social isolation. However, a small reactional oedema may appear from a few hours to a few days.
Dr Olivier CLAUDE recommends that you protect your skin from the sun for 15 days following your dark circles filling treatment.
Results
After an injection to fill dark circles, the result is visible as soon as the session is over, but you need to wait a few days to appreciate the final result.
The treatment of dark circles with hyaluronic acid rejuvenates the eyes while hydrating the injected area. The improved appearance lasts over time. It is not usually necessary to carry out further injections in this area for 18 to 24 months.
This physical improvement generally leads to a psychological improvement. In the long term, a face and neck lift makes it possible to combat the ravages of time, but ageing continues to take its toll and a new facelift procedure may be considered about ten years down the road. Post-operative recovery is generally straightforward after a properly performed cervico-facial lift, and actual complications are rare. By choosing a surgeon qualified as a Specialist in Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery by the French Medical Council and graduate of a DESC (Diploma of Advanced Specialised Studies) in Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery, you limit these risks as much as possible.
